What is AWS Certification?
AWS Certification validates AWS Cloud knowledge and technical skills across foundational knowledge, job roles, and specialist domains.
Holding another AWS Certification is not a testing prerequisite. AWS publishes a target candidate and recommended experience for each exam, but those recommendations are not mandatory eligibility requirements.
Certifications are generally valid for three years from the date earned. Recertification options vary, so check the current official recertification page before planning an update.

How to choose an exam
New to AWS
Use CLF-C02 to organize cloud value, shared responsibility, core services, and pricing. AIF-C01 is another starting point when AI is the primary goal.
IT experience but little AWS experience
If your target role is clear, you can begin with an Associate exam's scope; CLF-C02 is not a mandatory prerequisite.
Already using AWS at work
Choose the Associate or Specialty exam closest to your daily work and compare your experience with the official target candidate guidance.
Infrastructure architecture
Use SAA-C03 for architecture decisions, then consider SAP-C02 for complex organizational and migration designs.
Operations and monitoring
Use SOA-C03 for observability, change, recovery, and automation; consider DOP-C02 when moving into continuous delivery.
Data engineering
Use DEA-C01 to cover ingestion, transformation, data stores, quality, security, and governance.
AI and machine learning
AIF-C01 emphasizes concepts and use cases, MLA-C01 ML workload implementation, and AIP-C01 production generative AI development.

Testing and recertification basics
Scheduling and testing
Use your AWS Certification account to schedule through Pearson VUE at a test center or, where available, through online proctoring. Options and availability vary by exam and location.

Available languages vary by exam. Japanese is currently listed for the exams shown here, but confirm the options offered when scheduling.
Validity and recertification
Certifications are generally valid for three years. Available renewal paths—such as retesting, advancing, or an eligible maintenance assessment—vary by certification and date.
